Cedar Avenue Transit Improvements

Cedar Avenue from 181st Street in Lakeville to north of 138th Street in Apple Valley

Schedule for April 15 – 22

  1. Dodd Blvd to Upper 164th Street/Griffon Trail
  2. Continue storm sewer and water main installation on the west side of Cedar Avenue.
  3. Earthwork along the west side of Cedar Avenue.
  4. Work on retaining walls along the west side.
  5. Begin excavation for new signal system bases on the west side at Glacier Way and 170th Street.

164th Street/Griffon Trail to 160th Street

  • Continue storm sewer and watermain installation on the west side of Cedar Avenue.
  • Earthwork along the west side of Cedar Avenue.

160th Street to S of 155th Street

  • Earthwork along the west side of Cedar Avenue.
  • Begin work on retaining walls along the west side.


Private Utilities
Private utility relocation work continues off of the roadway along the east side of Cedar Avenue between Dodd Blvd and 150th Street.

Upcoming Access Changes
Lane closures on northbound Cedar Avenue between Dodd Blvd and 160th Street are scheduled to begin Monday, April 25. These closures will remain in place until later this summer.

Work on side streets west of Cedar Avenue is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 25. Roads will not have a paved surface until all work is complete on the side streets. This work will affect access at the following locations:

  • Glacier Way – road width will be restricted from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., but road will remain open during work
  • Upper 167th Street – road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and traffic will be detoured
  • 161st Street – road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and traffic will be detoured

Additional lane closures on southbound Cedar Avenue between 150th Street and 157th Street are tentatively scheduled for the week of April 25 for private utility relocation. Southbound Cedar Avenue will be restricted to one lane, except during afternoon rush hour.

Access
There are lane closures on southbound Cedar Avenue from just south of 155th Street to Dodd Blvd. At least one lane of traffic will remain open. These closures will remain in place until late summer.

Additional temporary lane closures may occur throughout the project area, if needed, except during the following times:
Northbound Cedar Avenue – morning rush hour
Southbound Cedar Avenue – afternoon rush hour

Sidewalk closures may be necessary for some construction activities.

Speed limits may be reduced in the work zone. Please don’t go around barriers into construction zones.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
