Tera Lee will continue as Farmington School Board chair in 2012.
The gavel was passed to the second-year board member after a unanimous Jan. 9 vote and Board Member Brian Treakle’s rejection of his nomination for the position proposed by Board Member Julie Singewald.
“While I appreciate the nomination, it’s not a position I don’t think I can handle at the moment, and so I would like to politely decline the nomination,” Treakle said.
He did accept Board Member Melissa Sauser’s nomination for vice chair, a position he also held in 2011.
Treakle was also elected on a unanimous vote.
That full support ended when McKnight nominated Singewald for clerk, a position held by Sauser in 2011.
Burke nominated Sauser to continue in the position, and she won on a 4-2 vote.
Last year, McKnight and Singewald were also the only votes for Singewald as board chair.
After the split clerk vote, Lee nominated Singewald as treasurer, but Singewald declined to accept it without explanation.
McKnight was then unanimously elected treasurer under Burke’s nomination.
All members were appointed to various committees.
Board members unanimously approved no changes to the annual board salaries of $4,200 for the chair and $3,600 for other members in 2012.
Each member will also still receive $30 stipends for attending certain meetings including retreats and non-scheduled meetings.
