TAGS teams compete strong at Winter Challenge Invite
The Level 4, 7 and 8 girls teams from TAGS South Gymnastics in Apple Valley competed in the Winter Challenge Invitational on January 27-28 at Concordia University in St. Paul. The Level 4 Team earned a team score of 102.55. The Level 7 team placed second in their competition with a season high total of 109.125. The Level 8 team earned a solid 104.425 for their team total.
The Level 4 team had many great individual performances. On the vault, the team’s top three scores came from Ailey Kuehn of Eagan with a 9.25, Hannah Maccarone of Eagan with a 9.00 and Madison Nguyen of Farmington with an 8.825. Bars was a strong event for the group with Olivia Gore of Lakeville earning an 8.90, Olivia Fiedler of Lakeville earning an 8.75 and Brynn Hemphill of Lakeville and Keegan Messner of Rosemount each earning scores of 8.60 for their routines. Olivia Gore had the top score for the team on the beam with an 8.50. Brynn Hemphill posted an 8.15 for her solid routine and Keegan Messner rounded out the top three with a 7.90. On the floor exercise, Olivia Gore was tops again with an 8.60. Brynn Hemphill posted an 8.075 and Olivia Fiedler tumbled her way to an 8.00. In the All Around, top scores for the team were earned by Olivia Gore with a 34.50, Brynn Hemphill with a 33.15 and Olivia Fiedler with a 32.55. Also competing for the Level 4 team were Holly Bernardin of Rosemount, Ella Hillis of Lakeville, and Jaden Rivera of Lakeville.
The Level 7 Team had many stellar performances on their way to their second Place finish. Taylor Thorberg of Farmington placed second in the All Around, in her age division, with a 36.925. Thorberg also placed second on the Floor with a season high 9.45. Taylor Zoellner of Lakeville was 3rd in the All Around in her age division with a 33.975. Zoellner was also second on the bars with an 8.80 and second on the floor exercise with a 9.15. Sarah Wilken of Eagan placed second on the bars in her age division with an impressive 9.35. Other top scores from the team included Anna Altermatt of Farmington posting a 9.125 on the bars and a 9.15 on the Floor. Teagan Ramboldt of Eagan earned a 9.10 for her explosive vault. Abby Schwartz of Farmington had a season high 9.125 on the vault as well as a season high 9.125 on the floor exercise. Kayla Brunner of Eagan had solid routines on the bars and beam for scores of 8.875 and 8.60 respectively.
The Level 8 team saw Shelby Neumann of Eagan posting a season high All Around score of 35.125. Neumann also earned a season high 8.925 on the bars. Olivia Larson of Lakeville earned top scores on the bars with an 8.95 and the Floor with an 8.975. Kalli Opsal of Farmington posted an impressive 9.125 on the floor exercise as well as an 8.75 on the Balance beam.
The next competition for the TAGS South Level 8 Team will be the Chicago Style Invitational to be held February 11 in Chicago, IL. The Level 4 and 7 Teams from TAGS South will compete next at the Twisted Moose Invitational to be held February 25th in Minneapolis.
