Kelly earns Eagle Scout rank

Blair Kelly, Burnsville resident and 16-year-old junior at Apple Valley High School, recently celebrated the highest rank in Boy Scouts at an Eagle Court of Honor on March 31. He was the first scout in Apple Valley Troop 205 to earn his Eagle Scout award in 2012 (Jan. 5), which happens to be the centennial year of the first Eagle Scout. Kelly’s Eagle project was to remove buckthorn from Pershing Circle Park south of Crystal Lake in Burnsville. He later seeded the park with natural plants and grasses. Only 5 percent of youth who join Scouting earn the Eagle Scout rank. Kelly is pictured here with his parents, Jenny and Pat Kelly. – Photo submitted
