Rozell named MIAC softball pitcher of the week
Gustavus Adolphus College freshman softball player and Lakeville North High School graduate Sarah Rozell recently was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Rozell helped Gustavus win three games last week, pitching three shutouts. One of them was against St. Thomas in a game that kept the Gusties tied with the Tommies for first place in the MIAC. Gustavus ended St. Thomas’ 13-game winning streak and 53-game conference winning streak.
Rozell’s week started with a one-hit shutout of St. Olaf as the Gusties won 8-0 in five innings. She tossed another five-inning shutout, holding Macalester to four hits and one walk with three strikeouts in a 9-0 victory. Her best effort halted St. Thomas’ streaks last weekend as she allowed just four hits and one walk with three strikeouts in a 4-0, seven-inning shutout. Rozell also had two relief appearances and didn’t allow a run in 18.2 innings of work.
This season, Rozell is 10-2 with a 2.12 ERA, 63 strikeouts and 19 walks in 86 innings. She ranks second in wins, fifth in strikeouts and tied for first in shutouts in the MIAC.
The Gusties’ 5-1 week helped them improve to 19-7 overall and 11-1 in MIAC play.
