Karate master to teach public class
Several Dakota County residents will participate in a public class and demonstration by “Hanshi” Robert Scaglione, 10th degree black belt and chief administrator of Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA, at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Carleton College in Northfield.
Scaglione will train with the Ueshiro Northfield Karate Dojo and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shorin-Ryu karate in the United States. Hanshi is equivalent to karate master in Japanese.
He will be joined by other high-ranking Shorin-Ryu black belts. Anyone with an interest in karate or the martial arts is invited to come and take the opportunity to observe and learn from a master with more than 45 years of training and experience teaching karate.
