Carlson will produce jobs
To the editor:
I read with interest a letter congratulating an incumbent state senator from the south metro area for his endorsement by his party for this coming November.
I have noticed that incumbents from the south metro area promised they would produce jobs, jobs, jobs.
What we got from them was amendments to the constitution, one prohibiting gay marriage; another seems likely to give us the right to work cheaper and harder.
They finally seem to have dropped the amendment requiring a 60 percent majority to increase taxes for the millionaires who pay a lower percentage than the rest of us.
The incumbents also claim a surplus of $1.2 billion but we owe our school districts $1.5 billion.
Where are the jobs?
I support the return of Jim Carlson to the state Senate. His work for education, transportation, and our state’s economy makes me proud.

Betty,
The government can only produce jobs by taxation, essentially taking money from people who EARN it and then paying others to (hopefully) do tasks, such as a DMV clerk processing licenses. However, it is wholy known that this is the least productive way to create jobs, instead, when people are allowed to keep their earnings, they buy more and create demand. In rare instances, there is demand for government service, such as a military to protect our liberty and freedom. However, as the recent fiascos such as GSA partying has shown, most jobs created by the government are wasteful. Any politician whether Republican or Democrat who claims they can create jobs is not being entirely truthful.
