City officials recognized Apple Valley’s new status as a Yellow Ribbon community with a ceremony at the City Council meeting April 26.

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a program spearheaded by the Minnesota National Guard to help service members, veterans and their families, especially those dealing with deployment or post-deployment integration.

Apple Valley was officially proclaimed a Yellow Ribbon community at a March 30 ceremony in Lakeville attended by Gov. Mark Dayton and U.S. Rep. John Kline.
