Tigers lacrosse nearly knocks off No. 3 seed Jefferson

The Farmington girls lacrosse team’s season came to an end on Wednesday with a 14-13 loss to Bloomington Jefferson in the Section 3 quarterfinal.

The Jaguars came into the season as one of the top-ranked teams in the state, but the Tigers gave the No. 3 seed in Section 3 all they could handle.

“This entire team should be very proud of themselves,” coach Dan Pickens said. “Aside from their great record, they worked hard and accomplished pretty much all of their individual and team goals set forth at the beginning of the year.”

Ally Midboe had five goals, Jess Erchul three and Rachael Welzin two. Haley Bradshaw and Tia Jacoby scored the others. Jacoby also had four assists.

The Tigers had the game tied 8-8 at halftime and kept the pressure on throughout the second half. The Tigers took two-goal lead at times, but Jefferson would never go away.

“We certainly didn’t do anything wrong, just couldn’t get possession to kill out the clock,” Pickens said. “This was a tough one to swallow, but we all have to remember what a great season we have had.”
