Eastview still in front

Eastview maintained its 1-0 lead over Bemidji through five innings of the state Class AAA championship game at Target Field.

A couple of outstanding defensive plays kept the score from changing. Eastview’s Brennan Espinda Banick raced into left-center field to rob Bemidji’s Mitch Hendricks of an extra-base hit in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, with Eastview runners at second and third and one out, Bemidji outfielder San Dwyer caught Quinn Trusty’s fly ball on the right-field line and threw out Cameron Hall, who had tagged up at third base.
