Update: More than 3,000 still without power in Dakota County

Update (2:29 p.m.): Dakota Electric Association reported that all its customers should be back online by late tonight and early tomorrow morning. There are still 500 customers without power.

Dakota Electric Association reports that crews have restored power to about 7,000 of the 10,000 customers who were without power following last night’s storm.

The majority of those 3,000 still without power should be restored by nightfall. But, because of the widespread damage, Dakota Electric estimated that it might take 24-48 hours to restore everyone. Crews are being called in from other cooperatives to assist in the restoration efforts, according to spokesperson Joe Miller.

“Our goal is to restore power quickly and safely to everyone,” he said in a statement. “We thank everyone for their patience.”
