Storm leaves its mark on Dakota County
An overnight storm in the south metro resulted in widespread reports of power outages, property damage and downed trees.
Around Lakeville, an overnight storm ransacked garbage cans and lawn furniture while taking down significant portions of several trees. There were also reports of some property damage from winds that reportedly got as high as 54 mph.

In downtown Lakeville winds hit about 54 mph, a significant enough blast to rip off branches on this tree near the Senior Center at 207th Street and Holt Avenue. Photo by Marie Kibler Hongslo.
In Apple Valley and the vicinity, Pilot Knob Road was closed between County Roads 42 and 46, as crews removed more than a dozen downed utility poles and power lines.
Dakota Electric Association reported outages. Crews are responding to outages that are widespread and scattered across the system. Early this morning, Dakota Electric had more than 9,800 out of power, but that number might increase as more outages are reported.
Dakota Electric reminds the public to stay away from downed power lines, and call the outage line to report safety hazards or power outages: (651) 463-6201.
