District 191 teachers attend summit

Amy Smalley of William Byrne Elementary and Jennifer Hutchinson of Burnsville High School attended the “Shining the Light” summit in Plano, Texas, through a sponsorship provided by Dakota Electric Association.

Hosted by Rachel’s Challenge, a nonprofit organization started by the family of Rachel Scott after the Columbine shootings in 1999, the summit teaches strategies to replace bullying and violent behavior with kindness and respect.

Dakota Electric has sponsored the Rachel’s Challenge program for many local high schools in the area.
