Two people die after shooting in parking lot of Apple Valley apartment complex

Two people were killed from gunshot wounds during a shooting at approximately 8:30 a.m. today in the parking lot of the South Cedar Knolls apartment complex, 12790 Germane Avenue, Apple Valley, according to a release from the Apple Valley Police Department.

Police are not releasing the names of the man and woman – both 41 – who died at the scene where they were found non-responsive and received immediate medical aid when officers and Allina paramedics arrived.

A weapon was located adjacent to the bodies. At this time it is believed that no other persons are involved in this situation and there is no further threat to public safety.

Police said the woman was a resident of the apartment complex and that the man was a Dakota County resident.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing. Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting the detectives from the Apple Valley Police Department.

The bodies of both individuals will be transported to the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Hastings for examination, autopsy and identification.
