The StringWerks Music Program offered through ISD 191’s Community Education will hold placement auditions for string, brass, woodwind, and percussion players beginning Sept. 10. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights and will culminate in a Nov. 17 concert at Burnsville High School. String players of all ages and ability levels are welcome. Twin Cities Ballet will hold “Nutcracker” auditions Sunday, Sept. 16, at Ballet Royale MN, Lakeville. Open to the public. Auditions for Expressions Community Theater’s production of “The ReGifters” will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 17-18 at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Ave. If needed, callbacks will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Bring a headshot or current photo. Roles available are two men and two women age 40s to 50s, one man and one woman age mid-late 30s, one woman age mid-60s, and one man and one woman in their 20s. Minneapolis author Monique Hammond will sign copies of her book, “What Did You Say? An Unexpected Journey into the World of Hearing Loss,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Apple Valley Barnes & Noble, 14880 Florence Trail. Hammond will speak about important hearing loss topics, answer questions and provide prevention tips and resources on coping with hearing loss.
