Real estate taxes due Oct. 15

Property taxes on Dakota County real estate for the second half of 2012 are due Monday, Oct. 15. Payments mailed to Dakota County must be postmarked by midnight Oct. 15 to be considered timely.

According to state law, the county will assess a penalty for late payments. The penalty depends on the tax amount, property classification and when the payment is made. Penalties are listed on the back of property tax statements sent to residents earlier this year.

Tax payments may be made at the Property Taxation & Records Office in the Administration Center in Hastings Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or the service desks at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley and the West St. Paul Northern Service Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dakota County offers additional payment options. For more information, visit http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/HomeProperty/PayingPropertyTaxes/default.htm.

Call the Dakota County Property Information Line at (651) 438-4576 for questions about tax statements.
