Michael O’Connor remembers when the township checkbook resided in his back pocket and he paid some of the bills right on the spot. O’Connor was Burnsville Township clerk and won election as village clerk in July 1964.
O’Connor will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 18, meeting of the Burnsville Historical Society at 7 p.m. at the 190 River Ridge Building in north Burnsville.
“Frankly, there is no way we can more than touch the surface of Mike’s experiences in 45 minutes — but it will make a good beginning,” said Len Nachman, leader of the historical society.
The Burnsville Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the 190 River Ridge Building. It was certified in June as a new chapter of the Dakota County Historical Society. Its new website is at burnsvillehistory.org.
