Panther tennis falls in semifinal

The Lakeville North girls tennis team lost to the eventual Section 1AA champions Rochester Century on Tuesday in the Section 1AA semifinal in Rochester.

The Panthers lost 5-2 to Century, who went on to defeat Rochester Mayo 4-3 in the final for the right to play at state later this month.

The Panthers’ victories against Century inlcude Lori Ahuja, who won at the  No. 3 singles position. Megan Upham and Toni Reiland won at the  No. 2 doubles position battling back after losing the first set.

Lakeville North got to the semifinal with a 7-0 win against Albert Lea in the first round on Oct. 2 and Rochester John Marshal 7-0 in the quarterfinals Oct. 4.

Lakeville South lost in the section quarterfinals to Owatonna 7-0 on Oct. 4. The girls won in the first round besting Faribault 7-0 on Oct. 2.
