Apple Valley Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland was elected to the National League of Cities Board of Directors at NLC’s Annual Business Meeting on Dec. 1 in Boston, Mass.
She will serve a two-year term beginning immediately. She will work with the officers in shaping NLC’s priorities and directing the organization’s advocacy, research and membership activities for the coming year.
“I am excited about this opportunity to work with the nation’s cities and encourage the type of innovation and collaboration that we have developed here in Dakota County,” said Hamann-Roland.
Prior to her election to the NLC Board, Hamann-Roland served as president on the board of directors for the League of Minnesota Cities and president of the Minnesota Mayors Association.
Her prior service to NLC includes serving on NLC’s Information Technology and Communications Policy Committee, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee, and the Futures Panel on Community and Regional Development. She is also the NLC’s representative to the Wildland Fire Leadership Council.
