BHS business teacher receives award

Burnsville High School business education teacher Meggan Malone will be honored with a 2013 Teacher of Excellence Award by BestPrep, a statewide nonprofit organization that works to prepare students with business, career and financial literacy skills.

Malone has worked with BestPrep extensively to enhance the education of her students. Through the BestPrep eMentor program, Malone’s money management students partnered with professionals in the business world and practiced professional business communication.

Also with the help of BestPrep, Malone has had business professionals, including investment managers and entrepreneurs, visit her class and share their real-world knowledge. Students from her introduction to business class attended a career fair at US Bank and learned about the responsibilities within the different departments.

Malone will receive the award at BestPrep’s 37th Annual Luncheon on May 22 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center.
