Six high-achieving students at Burnsville High School received Junior Book Awards in May.
They are Molly Calhoon, Harvard University; Samantha Gray, Yale University; Kristyna Hughes, Wellesley College; Maxwell Johnson, Dartmouth College; Jordan Medeiros, University of Minnesota Science Achievement and Exploration Award; and Amber Wetzel, Columbia University.
Students were selected based upon their academic accomplishments, school involvement and community service. Each student was presented with a book that is connected to the college in some way, often written by a professor or alumnus.
The Junior Book Awards don’t guarantee admission to the colleges but are meant to recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of high school juniors and are a distinction on college applications.
