Eagan’s Kuehn 329th at Grandma’s

Burnsville runner 25th in half marathon

More than 5,600 runners completed the feature race Saturday at the Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth. That group included 56 Eagan residents and 33 from Burnsville.

Lance Kuehn, 30, led the Eagan contingent with a time of 3 hours, 4 minutes, 51 seconds. That put him at 329th overall and 297th among males. His time was nine seconds below the 2014 Boston Marathon qualifying cutoff for men ages 18-34. Kuehn, a Rosemount High School teacher, ran in the Boston Marathon in April.

Jamie Blumentritt, 25, was the top female finisher from Eagan. Her time of 3:20:57 was good for 95th place among 2,343 females and easily beat the Boston Marathon cutoff. Janelle Melgeorge Anderson, 42, finished in 3:26:43 and beat the Boston Marathon qualifying standard for the women’s 40-44 age group.

Oldest male finisher from Eagan was Jeff Hart, 58, whose time was 4:57:18. Susan Ewen, 56, was the oldest female finisher in 5:00:59.

Six 18-year-olds from Eagan completed the race. Leading that group were Caleb Ayers (3:57:59). Allison Howland, Marie Altendahl, Emily Lynch and Emily Truszinski all were timed in 4:28:42, with Marisa Noyes finishing in 4:28:43.

Burnsville runners were led by Daniel Cari, 32, who finished in 3:00.36 and qualified for next year’s Boston Marathon. The top female finisher from Burnsville was Erica Verdegan, 22, who had a time of 3:44:35.

Dan Kimmel, 61, ran 3:51:48 and beat the Boston Marathon qualifying standard for the men’s 60-64 age group.

Oldest male finisher from Burnsville was 68-year-old Steve Homa, whose time was 5:33:02. Three women age 50 completed the marathon: Susan Thoresen (4:11:37), Beth Julik (4:34:51) and Cheri Kirchner (5:24:18).

Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon finishers included 55 from Eagan and 37 from Burnsville.

John Rollie, 43, was the fastest finisher from Eagan with a time of 1:30:06. Paul Vetter, 56, finished in 1:34:44 and was sixth in the men’s 55-59 age group.

Jody Nelson, 48, finished in 1:37:45 and was ninth in the women’s 45-49 age group. Susan Felton, 54, was third in the women’s 50-54 division in 1:40:30.

Burnsville’s Aaron Eicher, 30, was 25th of more than 6,600 half marathon runners in 1:15:25. Top female finisher from Burnsville was Nicolle Alleva, 33, whose time was 1:43:45.
