Brothers busted in shoplifting incident

Some siblings do everything together – including shoplifting.

Two Burnsville brothers were arrested at an Apple Valley department store earlier this month after attempting to steal more than $450 worth of clothing, according to police.

Police were called to the Kohl’s store at 14926 Florence Trail the afternoon of Aug. 10 on a report of two “known shoplifters” taking items and exiting the store without paying.

Apple Valley police responded and arrested the two siblings, ages 36 and 37. One brother had attempted to steal $260 worth of clothing, the other about $200 worth.

Police found a hypodermic needle and a glass drug pipe on the younger brother, who admitted using heroin but said he was trying to kick the habit.

Both men were issued citations for theft before being released; the younger brother also was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle without a prescription.

Additionally, the siblings were issued trespass warnings, which prohibits them from entering the store for 90 days.
