Older adults are invited to play in Burnsville and Eagan’s first pickleball tournament, to be held Thursday, Sept. 17, at 8:30 a.m. at North River Hills Park, 11501 19th Ave., Burnsville.
Players from recreational to intermediate skill level are invited.
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted 2 inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffle ball.
The cost is $20 per team of two. It includes a barbecue hot dog lunch, snacks and beverages. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Spectators may purchase the lunch for $3 per person.
To register, call the Eagan Parks and Recreation Department at 651-675-5500. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept 10. A rain make-up date is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19.
