Shooting suspect arrested, missing woman sought

A suspect has been arrested in the Sept. 22 fatal shooting outside Nina’s Grill in northeast Burnsville.

The suspect, Shavelle Oscar Chavez-Nelson, was arrested Tuesday in Rosemount, Burnsville police said in a news release. Chavez-Nelson was arrested at 12:20 p.m. in the area of County Road 46 and Shannon Parkway in Rosemount. Chavez-Nelson has not been charged yet, police said.

Police were still searching Tuesday night for a woman who was reported missing the evening of Sept. 23 and was last seen with Chavez-Nelson the night of Sept. 22.  Anarae Kristine Schunk, 20, is white and has green eyes and brownish/blonde hair. She’s about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds.  She was last seen wearing a white, zip-up jacket with a University of Minnesota logo on the chest.

Schunk is not believed to be a suspect in the homicide investigation, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call Burnsville Police Department Tip Line at 952-895-4636 (INFO) or 911.

Police have identified the victim in the shooting as 23-year-old Palagor Obang Jobi. The shooting occurred at around closing time, said police, who were called at 1:58 a.m.
