Six Burnsville High School seniors have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.
They are Janna Bruesehoff, Molly Calhoon, Taylor Ewing, Maxwell Johnson, Maggie Kaplan and Bonssa Teizazu.
Approximately 1.5 million students across the country took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and 50,000 are now being recognized for their outstanding scores. The Commended Student designation goes to fewer than 3.5 percent of those who took the test.
Teizazu is also a semifinalist in the Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. He scored among the top 3 percent of more than 160,000 Black Americans who requested consideration in the 2014 National Achievement Program when they took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Finalists will be announced in April.
