Rosemount deaths ruled a murder-suicide

The shooting deaths of a married Rosemount couple has been ruled a murder-suicide, according to preliminary results from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The results released Oct. 10 show that Steven Lee Vasey Jr., 32, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and Melissa Vasey, 31, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound while inside their apartment at the 2900 block of 146th Street West.

There were no indications of a struggle between the couple, according to a release from the Rosemount Police Department.

Officers made entry to the apartment Oct. 8 at about 5:48 p.m. in the 2900 block of 146th Street West after they received a request for police to check on the welfare of a couple living there.

Police records indicate there were no prior calls to the residence.

The Rosemount Police Department continues its investigation with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

No other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident.
