Eagan man faces child porn charges

An Eagan man faces felony charges for allegedly downloading child pornography.

Jeremy James McNitt, 39, was charged on April 15 with possession of pornographic work involving minors.

According to the criminal complaint, upon receiving information that McNitt was sharing digital files of child pornography, Eagan police conducted a warranted search of his home on Nov. 30, 2011, and found multiple video files of “obvious child pornography.”

Officers seized several hard drives and two laptop computers.

During an interview with police, McNitt allegedly admitted to using a peer-to-peer file sharing network that contains child pornography and to making Internet searches for “father, daughter, young and tween.”

McNitt allegedly admitted he at times received images that were “obviously child pornography,” but said he deleted them right away.

Forensic analysis of McNitt’s hard drives determined that the videos had been stored there for over a year.

Other images of child pornography were found in various other folders on his hard drive, according to the complaint.
