JoAnn Mako, 79

Of Lakeville, passed away on June 14, 2014 and was born June 13, 1935 in Macintosh South Dakota to Joe and Marie Rothenbacher, farmers. She attended a one room school until 1974 when the family moved to a farm in Rush City, MN. Where she finished her schooling at a country school and Rush City High School and graduated with honors in 1953. She was accepted in St. Marys School of Nursing; as a student worked extra hours to pay her tuition. She graduated with honors on September 7, 1956 and married Edward Mako on the 15th. JoAnn served as a nurse over a period of 55 years in Twin City hospitals as floor nurse and supervisor, in maternity and delivery, in emergency room, in operation assist, as tutor to nursing assistants and nurses and doing home health. Outside of hospitals, she spent 10 years as nurse and Facility Director for Robert E. Miller Pillsbury home for handicapped adults. JoAnn is the mother of 8 children and 14 grandchildren,
a superb bridge player and quilter (70+ quilts and wall hangings) for births, weddings, birthdays, graduations and charities. JoAnn planted and maintained beautiful flower gardens to share with
those who pass her yard foe 53 years. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Ed, 6 sons and 2 daughters; Paul (Jan), Vincent (Diane), Jeanmarie (David Blaisus), Gregory (Lisa), Joseph

(Laurie), Annmarie (Raymond Morishita), Andrew (Pilar), Thomas; 14 grandchildren and 5 brothers and sisters Doris Nelson, Bob (Ellen), Carol (Frank Galaivan) Cecelia Skidmore,
Terrance (Sue). The funeral service will be held 11 AM, Monday, June 23, 2014 at Risen Savior Catholic Church (1501 Co. Rd. 42, Burnsville) with one hour visitation before at church. Wake will be held Sunday 4-8 PM at the White Funeral Home, 20134 Kenwood Trail, Lakeville (952-469-2723). Online condolences:
