To the editor:
For many years of my working life, I have worked with seniors and people with disabilities. I appreciate candidates for office that support the needs of seniors and people with disabilities. In all of my many interactions with state Rep. Anna Wills, R-Apple Valley, she has an understanding of the needs of seniors and people with disabilities and she has remained firm in her support of initiatives and in funding increases to ensure that seniors and people with disabilities receive the best care possible. Unless you are a loved one of a senior or a person with a disability or you have worked in this field, as Wills has as a personal care attendant, you may not be aware of the caregiver crisis that exists today. Because of the competition for jobs and because the funding is primarily public funding, caregivers are in short supply and turnover of caregivers has a negative impact on the people who the caregivers are intended to serve. Wills has supported the initiatives that make it possible for increased funding for these caregivers and the seniors and people with disabilities that need this care, and when she is re-elected, I know that support will continue.
