To the editor:
Lakeville School District as one of the outstanding districts in Minnesota deserves to have School Board members of the highest quality making decisions that positively affect the educational opportunities of our students. Terry Lind fits that mold.
When Lakeville High School was a junior-senior high school, and we had fewer than 400 students, Terry and I were English teachers together for 10 years. Terry was highly respected and valued by the School Board, the administration, his fellow teachers, parents, and especially his students who understood his concern for their learning.
When the new high school was built (presently Kenwood Junior High) Terry continued teaching at the “old” school, but during the growth of Lakeville School District, Terry became an elementary school principal. In this new capacity he received the same degree of respect as he did as a teacher. The one outstanding difference being: His staff, teachers and support staff, admired and appreciated his fair and just concern for their needs. As one teacher said to me, “He is a man of his word.”
He remained as a principal until his retirement after serving Lakeville School District for over 30 years. However, the call to once again serve District 194 sought his return. Terry Lind ran for the School Board and was elected. He brought his experience and concern for students with him and served conscientiously during his term of office.
I urge voters to re-elect Terry Lind for another term as Lakeville School Board member.
