Coats for Kids drive runs through Friday, Oct. 14

The annual Coats for Kids effort to collect new and gently used winter coats for Minnesota children and families in need ends this week.

Pilgrim Cleaners aims to collect 10,000 donated coats by Friday, Oct. 14.

The public is invited to donate new and gently used children and adult coats at any of the 25 Pilgrim Cleaners throughout the metro area. Pilgrim Cleaner locations include Apple Valley, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, Coon Rapids, Eden Prairie, Elk River, Lakeville, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, Bloomington, Eagan, Edina, Golden Valley, Long Lake and Richfield. Coats can also be donated at the Sun Newspapers offices in Osseo (33 Second St. N.E.) and Eden Prairie (10919 Valley View Rd.).

This is Pilgrim Cleaners’ 31st year holding the Coats for Kids drive.

Anyone unable to donate a new or used coat may participate by making a donation online at:, or by sending a check to: 3217 85th Ave No. Brooklyn Park, MN 55443. Checks can be written out to Pilgrim Cleaners (memo line: Coats For Kids.) One hundred percent of the donations will be used to purchase new children’s coats.

Used coats will be cleaned by Pilgrim Cleaners and coats will be distributed to the following charities: Sabathani Community Center, Sharing and Caring Hands, Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities, Catholic Charities of St. Paul & Minneapolis, STEP, CEAP and Lutheran Social Services.
