Siren back-up system test set March 15

Dakota County, in conjunction with the city of Hastings, will be testing the new back-up system for siren activation at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 15.

There will be a brief (less than a half minute) siren test on the city of Hastings and Dakota County sirens within 10 miles of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. In Hastings, only the sirens in the far southeast corner will activate during this special test. The reason for this test is to ensure the new back-up system for siren activation is working properly.

Please do not call the Communications Center. This is only a test and no actions are necessary on your part.
