Arts briefs for the week of March 17

Ballet world premiere
Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota presents the world premiere of “Coppélia Nouveau” May 12-14 at Ames Center, 12600 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville.

Experience a new original adaptation of the classic story ballet “Coppélia” in this innovative full-length production. Set in the 1920s, this story was written specifically for Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota and features a “ballet within a ballet.” The story moves seamlessly between “real life” dance scenes and traditional scenes from the ballet “Coppélia,” all the while following the traditional storyline of the classic ballet and the familiar score by Léo Delibes.

Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, May 12; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 13; and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 14. Tickets range from $18-$36 and are available at the box office, by phone at 800-982-2787 or Ticketmaster.com.

‘Mozart and Me’
Dakota Valley Symphony presents a special concert – “Mozart and Me” – featuring concertmaster Angela Waterman Hanson and principal clarinetist Rachel Weidman. Performances are 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the Black Box Theatre at Ames Center, 12900 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville.

‘Side Show’ in Burnsville
The Chameleon Theatre Circle presents the musical “Side Show” March 31-April 23 at Ames Center, 12600 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville.

Based on the true story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, “Side Show” offers a complex look at love, race and societal expectations in 1930s America through the eyes of its most marginalized outcasts. One plus one equals three in this heartfelt musical about what it means to always have someone by your side.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. March 31, April 1, 3, 7-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 2 p.m. April 2, 9 and 23.
