SES students organize bus trip for the Peoples Climate March

School of Environmental Studies students are organizing a bus trip to Washington, D.C., for the Peoples Climate March.

People are invited to sign up for the bus trip that will include participation in the march and other activities.

It is expected that eight buses will depart from 10 cities statewide, including one from SES in Apple Valley. The school is part of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District.

The bus leaving SES at 12155 Johnny Cake Ridge Road is expected to depart at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, and return at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30.

“Each person who gets on the bus is challenging the federal government’s attempt to reverse gains in fighting climate change by putting fossil fuel corporate leaders in charge of our nation’s air and water conservation,” said Brian Nowak, a volunteer leader of MN350, one of five local organizations promoting the march.

The 2017 People’s Climate effort is recreating the coalition that put together the largest climate march in history: when 400,000 people gathered in the streets of New York City in September 2014 to coincide with the United Nations general assembly.
