It took about two hours for law enforcement to make an arrest related to a Tuesday late afternoon robbery at Merchants Bank in Rosemount.

Michael Thomas Olin, 37, of Hibbing, was arrested at 6:58 p.m. by the St. Peter Police Department and booked into the Nicollet County Jail pending charges, according to a release issued Wednesday morning by Rosemount police.

Law enforcement was able to obtain high quality surveillance camera images of the person who robbed the bank and released them along with a physical description to the other agencies and the media in an effort to enlist the public’s help in finding the suspect.

In the robbery, the lone white male suspect left Merchants Bank, 15055 Chippendale Ave., with an undisclosed amount of cash at approximately 4:49 p.m.

The suspect presented a demand note to a teller asking for cash but did not brandish a weapon. No injuries were reported.

The suspect fled the scene after obtaining cash.

The Apple Valley Police Department and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Rosemount Police Department with the initial response to the scene.

St. Peter police officers were assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Blue Earth and Nicollet county sheriff’s departments, and North Mankato, Tri-City and Lake Crystal police departments.

Hibbing is located about 200 miles north of Rosemount, and St. Peter is located about 70 miles southwest of Rosemount.
