Man has standoff with police in Farmington after shooting

He was arrested without incident; woman recovering after surgery

Felony first-degree assault charges are pending for a 36-year-old Farmington man in Dakota County District Court after he shot a 25-year-old woman multiple times around 9 p.m. Sunday in the 18300 block of Exodus Court.

The woman was reportedly recovering after surgery after she was found in the yard of the residence and was taken from the scene by Allina Medical Transport.

After Farmington police arrived, the suspect remained in the residence and refused to exit, according to a release from police.

Dakota County Mutual Aid Assistance Group secured the scene while negotiations continued with the suspect, police said.

The suspect emerged from the residence unharmed at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he was taken into custody without incident.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to public safety as a result of the incident.

Also assisting on the scene were the Farmington Fire Department, deputies from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office and officers from Lakeville, Apple Valley and Burnsville.

Sun Thisweek and the Dakota County Tribune typically withhold suspects names until they have been formally charged.
