Northfield police received a report of a man who suffered a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning and are working on piecing together the events that led to his injury.
The male victim, age 24, was treated and released from Northfield Hospital, according to Northfield Police Deputy Chief Mark Dukatz. Investigators do not know where the shooting took place, Dukatz said.
Police received a call from the hospital around midnight-12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning saying that a man had come there with a gunshot wound, according to Dukatz.
Police recovered his vehicle, which was found at the hospital. Police found blood and a shell casing in a parking lot on the 400 block of Hwy. 3 South in Northfield but haven’t yet determined where the casing came from, Dukatz said. Police don’t believe the shooting took place in the parking lot.
Police spoke with the victim at the hospital and he told them that the incident took place in Farmington, Dukatz said. There were no witnesses and police have little other information to go on at this time, Dukatz said. Farmington has not received any reports of any gun shots, according to Dukatz.
Dukatz said the location of the incident will determine which law enforcement agency handles the investigation.
Northfield police expect to speak with the victim Thursday, Dukatz said. He has not been “overly cooperative,” Dukatz said.
