Arts briefs for the week of Sept. 15

‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ at Eagan High School
Eagan High School presents the comedy “Peter and the Starcatcher” Sept. 29 to Oct. 7.

The play is a prequel to “Peter Pan,” and is based on the children’s book series by Dave Barry and Ridley Scott.

A free senior preview is 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. Performances are 7 p.m. Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 6-7.

Tickets are $7 adults and $5 students and senior citizens. The ticket booth is open beginning Monday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on school days, and one hour prior to each performance. Tickets also can be purchased online at seatyourself.biz/eaganhs.

Burnsville Uncorked at Ames Center
The Burnsville Rotary hosts its 15th annual Burnsville Uncorked fundraising event 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Ames Center, 12600 Nicollet Ave.

The event features wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Event proceeds allow Burnsville Rotary to fulfill its commitment to community charities. Sponsored in part by Red Lion Liquors.

Jeff Foxworthy at Mystic Lake
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy is bringing his all-American humor to the Mystic Showroom 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17.

Foxworthy is the largest-selling comedy recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and bestselling author of more than 26 books. In 2014, he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Widely known for his redneck jokes, his act goes well beyond that to explore the humor in everyday family interactions and human nature, a style that has been compared to Mark Twain’s.

Foxworthy has hosted multiple television shows including “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” He executive produced and starred in the television series “Blue Collar TV,” based on the successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour and film of the same name. Foxworthy has also starred in an HBO special and two Showtime specials. His recent special with Larry the Cable Guy, “We’ve Been Thinking,” is now available on Netflix. Divas of Disco

‘An Andy and Bing Christmas’
“An Andy and Bing Christmas,” featuring the Dakota Valley Symphony, comes to Ames Center in Burnsville for a 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, performance.

Super Bowl champion Ben Utecht and Minnesota veteran singer Mick Sterling, along with backup singers Cate Fierro, Aimee Lee, Mary Jane Alm, Shalo Lee and Lisi Wright, take the audience back in time with favorite Christmas songs.
